BRIAN DAVY G4TRO

PW QRP 15th June 1986

Seen here standing during a Practical Wireless "QRP" contest at the Wandlebury field study cottage.  The back of the photo in Brian's handwriting says 15th June 1986 along with Max Westley G4WEZ and Ron Huntsman G3KBR shown in outline drawings.  I mention this because Brian was a great administrator.  The state of our archives presently owes much to his skills during his time as Secretary of the Club.  His minutes very accurate and humorous, our Technical records were put away neatly in relevant folders to be found again.  I still have the notes he made during the RAE course he sat to gain his licence.  They are truly excellent and the hand drawings are clear and understandable.  While he practiced his Morse code, and being a medical man, he studied the method of learning that was taking place coming up with the "spinal response theory".

He had a practical manner, for example this and his medical training extended to the provision of a loo tent at Castle Camps along with correct disposal of the contents at the end of the contest.  This has, to date, been the only time we have been so equipped.

In his memory each year the committee award a Davy Lamp to the club member who it is judged has given the best talk.
